Scheduled Events Before The 9th International İstanbul Biennial Continue With The "9B Talks - II": Norwegian Artist Gardar Eide Einarsson Elaborates On His Own Works

The second session of the "9B Talks" of the 9th International İstanbul Biennial will take place on December 1st, Wednesday, at Platform Garanti Güncel Sanat Merkezi. The Norwegian artist Gardar Eide Einarsson will elaborate on his works for the "9B Talks- II" at 18:30 hours on the scheduled date.

In his work, Gardar Eide Einarsson makes use of a range of media and addresses the notion of sub cultures and how to access, as well as take part in, these environments. Einarsson's works often relate to a notion of "the outlaw", subversion and the undermining of the present authority in place, by appropriating issues, customs and visual expressions of different groups and sub cultures found within society - both historical and present.

The audience and its inception are always an active component conceived inside the artwork of Einarsson. In his work, the artist constructs another kind of audience - an audience to which the work's message bares itself like the glint of an improvised weapon.

Einarsson will elaborate on his works during the "9B Talks - II" that will be free of charge and open for public, and there will be simultaneous interpretation available for the audience.

Gardar Eide Einarsson (born 1976) received his degree from the Academies of Bergen, Norway and Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. The artist has exhibited widely throughout Europe and U.S.A. in the last years, and recently presented solo exhibitions in Marres Centrum Beeldende Kunst in Maastricht, The Netherlands and Schnittraum in Cologne, Germany. Gardar Eide Einarsson lives in New York and Berlin.
