İstanbul Parallel Projects
That’s an İstanbulite
September 13-26, 2005
This work has developed as a result of the data achieved in the researches made in the context of İstanbul, My City project realized by İstanbul Municipality in 2003. In the course of this research, it was ascertained that as a result of the rapid growth rate of İstanbul and its intensive immigration process, urban consciousness of its inhabitants has not developed adequately. This work aims at the confrontation of the inhabitants of İstanbul with themselves and also with their fellow citizens. In order to achieve this, the designed posters will be placed on the billboards at bus stops. In this way, the whole city would be used as a Biennial space. The work That’s an İstanbulite (designed by Ülkü Gezer) is realized by Sakine Çil as a part of Positionings program of the 9th International İstanbul Biennial.
