Dates of the workshop: September 5-18, 2005
Official Presentation: September 15; 17.30 - 18.00 at Antrepo no.5 with a reception by Finnish Ambassador Maria Serenius
The workshop Lost in Translation will be organised to start before and continue throughout the opening days of the Biennial. Over 80 students and lecturers from 12 international art academies will participate and at the end of the workshop the physical results of their work in İstanbul will be exhibited.
The theme of the 9th Biennial is the city of İstanbul itself, and the task of the workshop is to reflect different strategies of art practices outside the white cube, activating the cityscape, defining ways of visual communication within the city and questioning the possibilities and demands of site specific art. The workshop will be an official part of the biennial. Each morning the students will begin with a lecture or presentation, which will lead into discussions about the future structure and development of the project. The results of Lost in Translation will be presented at the 2nd floor of Antrepo no. 5 -building.
