İstanbul Fragmented '05, a discussion platform on urban representation

The purpose of İstanbul Fragmented '05 is to provide an experimental discussion platform on urban representation for experts in cultural fields to compare notes and a series of speculative recent approaches by the young researchers in conceiving the city as a place for the intersection of historical and cultural identities, and in representing the city through the media of photography, literature, art, film and performance. Combining a symposium in the format of round table discussions and workshops, the organizers have sought to develop a program, which will look beyond the familiar images of cities and focus rather on such aspects of the city. The discussion and panels will be moderated by the İTU members and Vasıf Kortun (co-curator of 9th International İstanbul Biennale).
